Innovative Technologies for Reliable Genetic Tests

 

Across Europe, ProGenom’s partner laboratory is one of the most modern and automated human genetics laboratories. We have a total of five robots that fully automate DNA extraction. We analyze samples using the Fluorescent Probe Hybridisation SNP Genotyping method.

 

In a computer-based microfluidics method, all reagents are added to the DNA, allowing up to 9,000 genetic analyses per analysis plate with a reaction volume of only six nanoliters each.

Additionally, our laboratory employs other methods such as quantitative PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, or next-generation sequencing (NGS) to examine DNA fragments. We analyze blood and urine samples using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS).

What Samples Can We Analyze?

Technically, our DNA laboratory is equipped to reliably examine various types of samples. Currently, we use saliva samples, cheek swabs, or extracted DNA for our genetic analyses.

For blood analyses, we use both liquid and dried blood samples, while for urine analyses, we currently process only dried urine samples.

Timely Test Results Thanks to Short Analysis Times

Because our laboratory always analyzes the received samples as quickly as possible, the processing time averages just ten days. Sometimes, we can even complete genetic tests within two days.

In some cases, however, the quality of the submitted sample may be insufficient, requiring us to repeat DNA extraction up to nine times. This can take up to four weeks in some cases.

What Analyses Does Our Laboratory Offer?

Our laboratory is not only capable of analyzing genes. We also offer metabolic, blood, and urine analyses, as well as allergy tests. We provide our customers with a comprehensive selection in the area of preventive health care. All analyses meet the highest quality standards and are therefore always verifiable with the results.

Quality Assurance and High Standards Are Important!

Unlike the competition, our genetic tests are processed exclusively by our partner laboratory, which was established in collaboration with ProGenom – also in the development of analysis and product offerings. The laboratory is approved by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Health and certified by various independent organizations.

Of course, our laboratory meets strict requirements for quality management, such as ISO 9001 or ISO 22716. This is why our customers can expect reliable genetic analyses, which an expert in the field then discusses with the customers.

Well-Founded Result Evaluation

In accordance with strict quality guidelines, several entities within our DNA laboratory evaluate the genetic tests.

After two qualified scientists have independently assessed the analysis results, they are compared using software and then approved by our laboratory director.

Smooth Workflows Through Secure Processes

Nothing provides more accurate information about our identity than our own DNA. Therefore, it is our top priority to process the received samples using highly secure procedures.

Before we begin the analysis, we label all received samples with encrypted QR codes. This not only prevents sample mix-ups but also guarantees that the customer’s identity is reliably protected.

Our Customer Data Is Protected!

A DNA laboratory must adhere to strict data protection guidelines in addition to smooth and secure workflows.

For optimal data protection, it is not enough for us to simply process the samples anonymously. That is why we generally store personal and genetic data on two separate servers.
